National oil palm development requires the existence of an institution that is able to accommodate all the common interests of the national oil palm businesses.
The said institutions should serve as the set of all national forces, both elements of the government and the whole business, to build national oil palm industry is tough.
That based on the above matters and the implementation of Article 19 of Law No. 18 of 2004 on Plantations, then all stakeholders in the national palm oil industry started from seed, plantation up to producing derivatives deems it necessary to form the Indonesian Palm Oil Board (DMSI) through a declaration on December 7, 2006 in Nusa Dua Bali, by:
Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), represented by H. Akmaluddin Hasibuan) (Chairman);
Indonesian Cooking Oil Industry Association (AIMMI), represented by Adiwisoko Kasman (Chairman);
Oleochemical Manufacturers Association of Indonesia (APOLIN), represented by Goei Stephen King (Chairman);
Indonesian Palm Oil Growers Association (Apkasindo), represented by Sumardi Syarief (Chairman);
Association of Indonesian Plantation (GPPI), represented by Soedjai Kartasasmita (Chairman);
Perkelapa-Indonesia Society of the oil (MAKSI), represented by Gardjito (on behalf of the oil community-Perkelapa Indonesia);
Directorate General of Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products, represented by Djoko Said Damardjati;
Directorate General of Plantation, represented by Achmad Mangga Barani.
DMSI aims to improve cooperation and coordination between businesses and facilitate the formulation of regulations and national policies of the oil palm are able to bring businesses to compete, tough International market with regard to environmental sustainability.

DMSI organizes:
Preparation of advice and judgment to the government in formulating policies perkelapa agri-of the oil;

Implementation of inventory, monitoring and evaluation of the estate and mill production industry;

Implementation of business advocacy and other support services as well as address the issue of environmental impact in order to build the business field of palm oil and its derivatives, which sustainably;
Provision of data and information through cooperation with the Central Bureau of Statistics;
Coordination with the agencies, both at central and local levels in creating a conducive business climate, especially in the field of law and security, as well as in cooperation with relevant organizations both within and outside the country;
Giving feedback and alternatives in the stabilization of prices and supplies of cooking oil palm in the domestic market;
Proposing the accelerated development of facilities and infrastructure.
